Jumblatt: The Arab World needs a “Muslim Mandela” to break the boundaries

The head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt said Monday that “no matter how many words were said to honor the late struggler Nelson Mandela, they would never be enough,” adding that by his death, Africa and the World lost a real symbol of revolution against tyranny and domination.

“Mandela spent at least 27 years in jail, struggling for his cause against racism,” he stated.

In his weekly statement to al-Anbaa website, Jumblatt noted that the Arab World needs a ‘Muslim Arab Mandela’ who would dare to break the “the boundaries of the old cultural heritage based on many misleading conceptions that have dragged the Islamic world into sectarian war from Syria, to Iraq and Yemen, as well as other countries.”

“One who will also help the Muslims end violence and open a new leaf of forgiveness and reconciliation,” he concluded.
