Sheikh Sirajeddin Zreikat calls on Hezbollah to withdraw from Syria "before it is too late"

The Abdullah Azzam Brigades religious guide Sheikh Sirajeddin Zreikat called Tuesday via Twitter on Hezbollah to withdraw from Syria "before it is too late."

He also recalled Hezbollah's alleged terrorist attacks in Lebanon, such as the bombing of Tripoli's al-Taqwa and al-Salam mosques and the burning of Sidon's Abra mosque, as he said.

Sheikh Zreikat accused Hezbollah of assassinating former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, Lebanese Army General Francois Hajj, MPs Walid Eido, Gebran Toueini, Mohammad Chatah, journalist Samir Kassir and Information Branch Chief Major General Wissam Al Hassan.

Sheikh Zreikat vowed to retaliate to "Hezbollah's terrorism until peace and stability return to Syria."

The Abdullah Azzam brigades, a Lebanon-based al Qaeda affiliate, have claimed several terrorist attacks that mainly targeted Lebanon’s powerful Shiite group Hezbollah.

Hezbollah is a powerful Shiite Muslim force in Lebanon and has sent hundreds of fighters to neighboring Syria, giving a boost to its ally President Bashar al-Assad against mainly Sunni rebels seeking to topple him.

The Abdullah Azzam Brigades have strong links to Lebanon's Palestinian refugee camps as well as connections with the Gulf. One of its senior military leaders, Majid bin Muhammad al-Majid, was a Saudi national.

He was arrested by Lebanese authorities last December, who announced his death days later while still in custody, citing kidney failure as the reason.
