Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed Saturday the need to kick off dialogue as soon as possible in order to address the remaining flaw in the representation, after the lessons of the last elections.
Speaking from al-Baramieh in Sidon, Bassil said that corruption has not sect, adding the fight to eliminate corruption will target everyone. He reiterated the need to support the Lebanese people.
He noted that demonstrating against real corruption is more useful than demonstrating against the construction of a dam that will benefit all the people.
“Someone should warn people today that temporary reduction is a must, and in case it did not happen, there would be no salary left for anyone,” he stated.
In his speech, he also tackled the issue of the budget, pointing out that “there are some difficult decisions to be made.”
On the issue of the electricity, the minister said that they presented a large project while being confronted with small ideas, saying that “this political retardation is the reason why in 2019 we are still discussing electricity, dams and oil, which supposed to be obvious matters.”
