President Joseph Aoun condemns attacks on religious leaders, urges political restraint

Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun said that targeting the heads of Christian and Muslim sects and religious figures in Lebanon is “condemned and unacceptable,” stressing that spiritual leaders represent values that go beyond the religious dimension and extend into the national one.

He added that these figures embody principles linked to Lebanon’s unity and people, noting that applicable laws prohibit such insults and penalize those responsible.

Aoun called on all parties to keep political disagreements within a political framework and to refrain from personal attacks, warning of the negative impact of such behavior, particularly at a time when the country faces difficult circumstances that require broad national solidarity.
