Lebanese Army Chief meets head of ceasefire monitoring committee, stresses need to support the army

Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Rodolphe Haykal met with the head of the Mechanism overseeing the cessation of hostilities agreement, U.S. General Joseph Clearfield, in an exceptional meeting at the Beirut Air Base.

The meeting, which took place during a brief visit by Clearfield, addressed the security situation in Lebanon and regional developments, as well as ways to maximize the effectiveness of the Mechanism and further develop its operations.

Both sides emphasized the importance of the Lebanese Army’s role and the need to support it during the current phase.

General Clearfield left Lebanese territory following the meeting.
