REPORT: Wednesday's weather: Rainy with snow at 1000 meters [PHOTOS,VIDEO]

       
The meteorological department of the Civil Aviation Authority said on Tuesday that Wednesday's weather is expected to be stormy and rainy with snow at 1000 meters above sea level.
     
On Thursday, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy with an additional decrease in temperatures, scattered rain and snow at 500 meters.

Caretaker Education Minister Hassan Diab issued a circular whereby he called on private and public schools to close on Wednesday due to Alexa snowstorm which has started to hit Lebanon.          

"A heavy snowstorm is hitting Lebanon, causing a sharp decrease in temperatures," the circular said, adding that "the rising water level is expected to affect the traffic flow".
          
Earlier, Catholic Schools Secretary General Father Boutros Azar told Al-Joumhouria newspaper that the students will not be brought to schools during the storm, adding that the Education Minister Hassan Diab will take a decision in this regard.         

ISF braces for Alexa storm:        

Acting Internal Security Forces Head General Ibrahim Basbous has ordered the concerned authorities "to stay ready for a swift intervention by using all the available means to help citizens stuck in blocked roads".                   

He also called for taking precautionary measures that aim to facilitate the traffic flow across the Lebanese territories and to prevent citizens from being exposed to danger, mainly those who live in remote mountainous areas.                    

In turn, the Internal Security Forces' Directorate General called on drivers to drive carefully and to avoid mountainous roads, urging them to contact Security Forces on the 112 hotline if any problem occurs.  

Afram denies social media speculation: 

The Director General of Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute Michel Afram denied on Tuesday social media speculation over Alexa storm's impact on Lebanon.
        
Afram denied that the sea level will rise and flood coastal areas, ruling out the possibility of dangerous and destructive storms as well as the Beirut airport's shut down.
