Jreissati: Issuance of LL8.9 billion decree will organize financial system

Labor Minister Salim Jreissati told Voice of Lebanon that the president of the republic has exercised his constitutional rights in the Cabinet by refusing to sign the LL8.9 billion extra budgetary spending.

But the minister stressed that if the president signed the decree it would have facilitated the work of the financial system.

He added that the president's action has paved the way for a wider debate in the Cabinet on the substance of these arguments which did not convince some ministers.

The minister dismissed the argument of some politicians that the government is finished, describing such statements as politically motivated.

The minister stressed that the government is keen to secure financial resources in order to facilitate the work of the state.

"The salaries of the public employees and civil servants are secured and there is no reason for any worry about this matter."

The minister also assured that the patients covered by the National Social Security Fund will still receive medical treatment despite the threat of hospital to stop receiving these patients.

He revealed that Health Minister will hold a meeting soon to sort out the problems between the NSSF and hospitals.
