Lebanon's Interior Minister warns against internal strife

Lebanon's Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar said that freedom of expression remains protected, but warned against rhetoric suggesting unrest or attempts to seize state institutions in Beirut.

Speaking during a visit to a targeted building in Ain Al Mraiseh, Hajjar cautioned that "internal discord does not serve Lebanon, but rather benefits Israel."

He stressed that the priority remains rebuilding the state on solid foundations, noting that Lebanon faces multiple challenges, foremost among them "the liberation of its land."

Hajjar called on citizens to place their trust in state institutions and respect public officials, emphasizing that security forces are the sole guarantor of stability for all Lebanese.

The minister also revealed that a decision was issued a day earlier to reinforce the security presence, starting in the capital, adding that "there is no alternative but to return to the authority of the state and its institutions."
