Tobacco is a deadly threat to global development
This is the title of the campaign launched by the World Health Organization for the year 2017 to shed light on the dangers of tobacco and on the fact that a smoker is in fact an addict.
In this context, alarming figures shape the reality of tobacco consumption in Lebanon, where 30% of smokers are found to be minors.
According to the World Health Organization, around 6 million people die because of tobacco consumption every year, expecting an increase to the figure up to 8 million people by 2030, in case the governments fail to impose strict and firm laws in this regard.
