Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov congratulated Lebanon on its victorious military operation against the Islamic State, noting that he looks forward to exchanging opinions over the issues of the Middle East regions, during his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
Lavrov praised the efforts exerted by Hariri’s cabinet and President Michel Aoun to implement cooperation between the two countries in several fields.
In turn, Hariri declared that Lebanon is fighting terrorism just like the rest of the world, stressing the need to boost economic bilateral relations.
He also emphasized the importance of reinforcing the capability of the Lebanese Armed Forces in order to strengthen the state, hoping that the Syrian refugees will return to their country within a political solution.
