Mikati: Lebanese government is deploying strong efforts in case of Turkish pilots’ abduction

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miakti received on Sunday a phone call from the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan, who offered his condolences over the death of the victims who fell in the attacks that targeted the northern city of Tripoli and the Roueis region in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs, expressing his solidarity with Lebanon amid the current critical situation.

During the phone call, the officials tackled the issue of the Turkish pilots who were abducted in Lebanon, where Mikati stressed that the Lebanese government is deploying strong efforts to release the abductees, hoping that Turkey will also exert further efforts to solve the case of the Lebanese hostages held in Syria’s Aazaz.

Later, Mikati also received a phone call from the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmad Davutoglu and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius who reiterated his country’s support to Lebanon, especially under the current conditions.

The caretaker PM had followed up on the case of Tripoli’s explosions during a series of political and security meetings where he was briefed on the latest data reached concerning the investigations conducted by the concerned authorities, and on the security measures and procedures implemented by the Lebanese Army and other security apparatuses in this regard.

Separately, Mikati met with the Secretary General of the Higher Relief Commission Ibrahim Bachir who informed him of the instructions given in order to help those affected by the explosions.
