MP Gemayel calls on PM Salam to “act as the captain and rescue the ship from drowning”

Kataeb Party Chief MP Sami Gemayel said Monday that his party boycotted today’s national dialogue session “because he shares the Lebanese people’s feelings,” stressing that “the current situation cannot persist without holding cabinet sessions.”

In a press conference, Gemayel said that he keeps receiving promises from Speaker Nabih Berri, on his behalf and on the behalf of Prime Minister Tammam Salam, that a cabinet session will be held before the dialogue session.

The Kataeb leader addressed Salam in his speech saying: “If you consider yourself the captain, then you must rescue the ship from drowning and we will be the first to stand by you, but a mass suicide is not a solution.”

He urged him to be honest with the people so everyone will assume his responsibilities, stressing the need to elect a new president.

On another note, MP Gemayel called on the civil society activists to “continue their fight peacefully without clashing with the security forces.”
