Geagea to Nasrallah: Lebanese territory has its own sovereignty

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea commented on Tuesday on Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s speech.

He also voiced surprise to Nasrallah claiming that he “thwarted plots in Arab countries, mainly in Syria,” yet he is now “setting plans to confront the issue of Jerusalem.”

“The Lebanese territory has its own sovereignty, and the sovereignty is solely for the Lebanese state. We are not involved in any plans or confrontations unless stated by the Lebanese government,” Geagea said during an interview with the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that will be published on Wednesday.

He also reiterated that “the name of the Lebanese President is not ‘Axis of Resistance’, but his name is General Michel Aoun. We also have a government presided by Saad Hariri as well as a Parliament headed by Nabih Berri. These constitutional institutions are the ‘Axis of Resistance’ to us, whom the Lebanese people gave them the sole sovereignty to be exercised in the Lebanese territories. Nothing else is considered as ‘Axis of Resistance’. From here, the Lebanese territories, no one is allowed to act except the Lebanese constitutional institutions.”

“In my opinion, I think that there are other parties in the government that do not express their opinion, but they support him also,” Geagea added.

“We are capable of applying the disassociation policy,” he assured hoping that, “we all do everything in our best to apply it.”
