Mikati convoy crashes on Jbeil-Mastita Rd, 3 injured

The last vehicle in the convoy of Lebanese Prime Ministers Najib Mikati crashed on the Mastita-Jbeil intersection. Two Lebanese Army soldiers were reported as injured, and were taken to hospital. The accident caused heavy traffic on the highway.

Sources confirmed to LBCI, that the Premiere and Minister Ahmad Karami had arrived to Tripoli at the time of the accident, and that the crashed vehicle belongs to Ahmad Karami.

The green BMW belonging to the bodyguard of MP Samer Saadeh, Francois Tanios Elias, crashed into the car by coincidence. It had not been part of the Mikati convoy. 

Names of the injured are as follows: Francois Tanios Elias, Talal Bachir Jemaa (Mikati’s bodyguard), Salem Mohammad Osman (Karami’s bodyguard). 

The Red Cross Head of Operations, George Kattaneh confirmed to LBCI, that all injured personnel have been transferred to Saint Maritime Hospital and are receiving treatment.

For its part the PM’s media office also confirmed the accident, stressing that the Premiere had arrived safely to Tripoli alongside Ahmad Karami. The office added that the PM is grateful for the concern that followed the accident.
