Poet Maurice Awad dies aged 85

Renowned Lebanese poet and writer Maurice Awad passed away on Sunday aged 85.

Awad is born on February 20, 1934 and was one the candidates to the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2015 after the nominations committee in the Swedish Academy approved his candidature.

He is considered one of the most important poets in the Lebanese dialect.
