Member of Strong Lebanon bloc MP Farid Boustany noted Wednesday that the reforestation process will cover all the areas affected by the fires, adding that the work will focus mainly on the damaged agricultural lands.
In a press conference held at the parliament, Boustani stressed that the René Moawad Foundation and Farid Boustany Foundation have work with international institutions aiming at activating the agricultural lands.
On another note, he regretted that the budget of the civil defense in the 2019 state budget was reduced by 20%, noting that “how can we ask them to double the efforts when we do not pay them to purchase the necessary equipment?”
In this regard, the deputy declared that he will grant scholarships for the children of martyr Abou Moujahed on Monday, adding that he will donate his salary for 3 months to purchase equipment for the civil defense.
Separately, he stated that he will submit a draft law to establish an economic zone in Chouf for Information Technology.
