Rai calls for dialogue and ratification of a new electoral law

Maronite Patriach Mar Beshara Boutros Rai presided a mass of thanksgiving in Bkerke after his appointment as Cardinal.

In his speech, Rai stressed on the necessity to cooperate to find a solution to the current political crisis through dialogue and reconciliation, calling for ratifying a new electoral law that assures an adequate representation and the formation of a new cabinet.

Rai then urged Lebanese politicians to work together to solve the economic and social issues the Lebanese people are bearing.

The new cardinal also thanked Pope Benedicr XVI for the new rank he has granted him. He also congratulated the Palestinian people for the UN status upgrade of their state.
