Fletcher calls for preventing spillover of Syrian crisis into Lebanon

The British ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher met on Wednesday with the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Jean Kahwagi, the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) Major General Ashraf Rifi and the General Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim.

In this context, Fletcher stressed that the United Kingdom voices solidarity with the Lebanese state institutions under the caretaker government, and discussed the efforts exerted by the international community in order to uphold stability in Lebanon via practical steps.

Fletcher also highlighted the need to exert assiduous efforts in a bid to prevent the spillover of the Syrian crisis into Lebanon.
