US imposes sanctions on entities, individuals and vessels forming backbone of Iran’s oil economy

The United States Department of State imposed sanctions on entities, individuals and vessels it said form the backbone of Iran’s “illicit” oil economy.

The department said it designated eight entities and identified eight vessels as blocked property for transporting Iranian oil or petrochemical products.

It also announced sanctions on three entities and one individual linked to the trade of petrochemical products of Iranian origin.
