US sanctions 12 Iran-linked individuals, entities over China oil sales

The United States on Monday imposed sanctions on 12 individuals and entities that it said facilitated the sale and shipment of Iranian oil to China, days ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing.

"The IRGC relies on front companies in permissive economic jurisdictions to obfuscate its role in oil sales and funnel the revenue to the Iranian regime," read a statement from the U.S. Treasury, which named several individuals based in Iran, and companies based in the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong, as among those being punished.
