The Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah revered on Friday Hajj Hassan Laqees as one of the finest minds of the Resistance, saying Israel waged wars against thinkers.
In a speech delivered on the occasion of Hajj Hassan Laqees memorial service, Sayyed Nasrallah noted that all leads into the assassination of al-Laqees confirm the accusations launched by Hezbollah against Israel, adding that all condemnations and speeches delivered following al-Laqees’ assassination hold no meaning to Hezbollah.
“To us we know it was Israel,” Nasrallah said.
In the same regard, Sayyed Nasrallah said Hezbollah is paying the price of its past victories against Israel in the years 2000 and 2006, adding that it is also paying the price of its commitment to the cause of the Resistance.
Nasrallah noted that Hajj Hassan Laqees and martyr Imad Moghniyeh were both equally committed to the Resistance, adding that Hezbollah does not care for internal parties such as March 14.
“Our sole purpose is defeating Israel,” Sayyed Nasrallah stressed, emphasizing that Al-Laqees’ assassination comes in line with Hezbollah’s victories and the endless attempts to strike the Resistance.
Sayyed Nasrallah also mentioned that Al-Laqees’ assassination will not be taken lightly, pointing out that the score between Hezbollah and the Jewish state stretches years back. “The penalty for the assassination of Hezbollah martyrs will be paid by the direct superiors and not the implementers,” Sayyed Nasrallah said.
As for media campaigns against Hezbollah, Sayyed Nasrallah said these campaigns have nothing to do with Lebanon’s internal affairs, but are a direct hit against the Resistance, noting that funds spent on media outlets to slander Hezbollah also indicate the detriments endured by the party.
“Slander campaigns against Hezbollah are part of the psychological warfare practiced against the party,” Nasrallah added.
On another note, Sayyed Nasrallah said accusations launched by March 14 forces in Tripoli depicting members of Hezbollah as Takfiri criminals aim at declaring war against the Resistance.
In this regard, Hezbollah’s Nasrallah called on all political parties in Lebanon to leave space for reconciliation or otherwise declare that coexistence is nonexistent.
As for assaults against the Lebanese Armed Forces, Sayyed Nasrallah urged for not taking them lightly, stating that they pose a great threat to the country even more severe than the Iranian embassy attack.
Nasrallah called for safeguarding the military institution, stressing that “it remains one of the few Lebanese institutions that garners national support.”
“The Lebanese Army is the country's lifeline; all parties are asked to distance the military institution from threats,” Nasrallah said.
On internal matters, Sayyed Nasrallah said Hezbollah does not support the formation of a fait accompli cabinet, stressing that the salvation of Lebanon comes with the formation of a national unity government.
As for the upcoming presidential elections, Nasrallah said “all parties including hardline March 14 partisans do not desire a presidential vacuum,” emphasizing that real sovereignty will come to be with the election of a president without foreign intervention.
“We as Hezbollah refuse a presidential vacuum and we will do our utmost to pave the way for the elections."
On the Syrian crisis, Hezbollah’s Nasrallah said the war in Syria is not sectarian, adding that those who speak of the high numbers of Hezbollah martyrs must first look at the number of fighters and compare.
Nasrallah also said that rhetoric blaming all events in Lebanon on Hezbollah’s presence in Syria is illogical, adding that “the Syrian crisis is a matter of existence and not one of triviality.”
“Our decision on Syria is final and will not change,” Sayyed Nasrallah stressed.
In the same regard, Nasrallah said in reference to Saudi Arabia that a regional power wishes to delve Lebanon into the abyss as a result of its losses.
"Power has no meaning to Hezbollah, and the party’s role in Syria has nothing to do with Lebanese entitlements," he confirmed.
“I sound the alarm as a warning to all politicians to be vigilant in their dealings during the upcoming phase,” Sayyed Nasrallah concluded.
