Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan said that an agreement was reached over the draft law on renaturalizing emigrants of Lebanese origin.
Earlier, Member of the Lebanese Forces bloc MP George Adwan called on the Lebanese people to “expect a positive development to take place within the next few hours regarding the issue of commitment to the National Pact concerning the legislative session scheduled for Thursday.”
Adwan made his remarks upon his arrival to al-Njemeh Square to take part in the third meeting held to discuss the draft law pertaining to the restoration of nationality.
For his part, Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb hoped that “the positive development will take place today,” noting that he will participate in tomorrow’s legislative session, in case it convened.
For his part, head of Kataeb party MP Sami Gemayel warned against all attempts to lead the country towards a civil war and division, noting that new compromises are being prepared at the expense of the Lebanese Constitution and the presidency.
“These compromises are shameful and do not represent our stances,” he stated.
Speaking from the Parliament, Gemayel said that any session that does not aim at electing a new president must be deemed unconstitutional.
