Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Jaberi Ansari arrived in Lebanon on Monday on a two-day official visit where he is scheduled to meet top Lebanese officials.

He was received at the Beirut International Airport RHIA by Iranian Ambassador in Lebanon Mohammed Fath Ali and a number of Iranian embassy officials.

The Iranian diplomat started his visit with a meeting President Michel Aoun who welcomed "Iran's deployed efforts to reach peaceful solutions that restore security and stability to the region."

Aoun also reiterated to Ansari Lebanon's self-distancing policy and the country's keenness not to meddle in the internal affairs of other countries.

He praised the bilateral relations between the two counties, promising the diplomat to pay an official visit to Tehran.

For his part, Ansari conveyed Iranian President Hssan Rouhani's wishes to develop the bilateral relations between Beirut and Tehran on the trade and economic levels.
