REPORT: Horrific crime in Bourj al-Barajneh: Woman suffocated to death then burned

The Internal Security Forces Directorate General declared the body of a Palestinian woman identified as 66-year-old Ahlam Balli was found inside her house in Bourj al-Barajneh on September 17th, 2017. The woman’s body was partially burned.

Following investigations into the crime the ISF information branch managed to identify the criminals as: 30-year-old Syrian national A. A. and his wife 30-year-old Syrian M. M.

During the interrogations, the wife confessed to killing the victim, adding that she had borrowed an amount of USD 7 thousand and was unable to return them.

In the details, she explained that she entered the victim’s house and threw the woman on her bed and suffocated her using a pillow for 3 minutes, while her husband was standing outside the house to monitor the vicinity.

Afterwards, the husband entered and burned parts of the victim to hide any evidence of the crime.

They also confiscated the woman’s phone and sent a WhatsApp message to one of her relatives telling her that the money has been paid, in a bid to remove any suspicion.

Another two Syrian nationals were also arrested while attempting to leave the country, and they confessed to being aware of the crime and that they were given the victim’s phone and purse by the criminals.
