Only in Lebanon, a major environmental crime gets committed on al-Jiyeh beach in the past few days, and the perpetrator’s identity remains unknown.
A large fuel spill was detected in the water and along the beach, prompting the ministries of energy and environment to take action.
After samples of the fuel were extracted for testing, Energy Minister Nada Boustany declared that al-Jiyeh power plant is not responsible for the spill, according to the lab test, adding that the ship transporting fuel to the plant is also not responsible for the spill.
