EU expresses reservations over the 2% tax on imported goods

After the vote to cancel the budget item related to imposing a 2% tax on imported goods until a new formula was found, a new objecting stance to this item was voiced by the European Union that also rejected a proposal to impose fees on local products.

In this regard, sources told LBCI that EU Ambassador Christina Lassen during her meeting with Industry Minister Wael Abou Faour said that imposing taxes does not resolve the issues facing the Lebanese Industrial sector and it also violates the trade agreement between Lebanon and the EU.
