Attorneys seek legal action against The Economist for “damaging Lebanon’s reputation”

Five Lebanese attorneys have submitted a legal notice before the Public Prosecution at the Court of Cassation against British magazine “The Economist”, after publishing an article on Lebanon’s bad economic situation and the possibility of a collapse, topped with a graphic of a disassembled flag with the cedar falling out of.

The attorneys, Khalil Qabbani, Rami Itani, Mohammad Doghan, Sana al-Rafei and Morhaf Oraymet, said that the magazine’s article “damages the reputation and financial status of the Lebanese state and insults the Lebanese flag and the Cedar tree.”
