LBCI sources: US meeting to focus on ceasefire extension, timing of Lebanon-Israel talks

A meeting scheduled for Thursday at the U.S. State Department is expected to focus on two key issues: extending the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, and determining the timing and venue for launching direct negotiations, according to information obtained by LBCI.

Contacts between Baabda Palace and Ain el-Tineh—the respective seats of the presidency and parliament—have remained ongoing.

Discussions with the United States over extending the ceasefire have shown positive indicators, with Washington reportedly pushing for an extension to create space for direct negotiations. An additional period of 20 to 40 days is under consideration, though no final decision has been made.

Meanwhile, there are no confirmed plans yet regarding a potential visit by President Joseph Aoun to Washington.
