Fayad says still waiting for results of Al-Zahrani fire investigation-[REPORT]
A fire broke out in one of the gasoline tanks in Al-Zahrani facility on Monday morning. Fires were quick moving and erupted in a small fuel tank.

Soon enough, Civil Defense teams arrived to douse the flames and to cool nearby tanks to stop the blaze spreading.

For his part, Prime Minister Najib Mikati dispatched Energy Minister Walid Fayad to Al-Zahrani facility to inspect the fire that erupted early today.

In response to a question about reasons behind the fire and the oil tank, Fayad pointed out that “the tank belongs to Lebanese army and contains a small amount of fuel,” adding that “firefighters are working on containing the flames.”

This as Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud instructed Beirut Civil Defense team to head to the Al-Zahrani region to assist in extinguishing the blaze.

After inspecting the blaze, Fayyad said that “the fire broke out as a result of a mistake during transportation process,” adding that “what matters now is people’s safety.”

Fayad also mentioned that “we should wait for investigation results,” explaining that “the fire occurred suddenly while transporting gasoline form a tank to another in order to make a delivery, and causes remain unclear.”

Later in the day, Civil Defense's teams were able to extinguish the flames completely.
