Nasrallah: We have all the needed weaponry in Lebanon in case of a war with Israel

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel and its supporters that Hezbollah will respond to any sort of attack against Lebanon, adding "Israel is not aware that our promises to attack and our threats are serious."

"In case of a war, we have all the needed weaponry in Lebanon and this time we don't have to import weapons from Syria or Iran," he said on the annual anniversary of the assassination of “martyr leaders”.

"Those who are promoting an Israeli war on Lebanon are unfortunately Lebanese and Arab media figures and officials," he said, stressing that Israelis now "think twice" before planning a war against Lebanon.

On accusations over Hezbollah's involvement in the Burgas attack, Nasrallah considered that those behind these accusations are only trying to add Lebanon to the EU's terror list. "We are closely following up on this issue but unfortunately some are talking about a potential Israeli war against Lebanon due to this accusation," he said, adding that some parties in Lebanon are hoping for such a war.

He considered that the people only have one option, which is resistance in all its forms "including armed resistance."

"The martyr leaders have always been and will remain witnesses of the stages of the Resistance up until this day," he said.

Nasrallah stressed that the Resistance project which was launched 30 years ago stands on solid grounds, on numerous achievements.

"It is not just a dream waiting to come true."

He thanked all those who support the Lebanese Resistance, including the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria, considering that the Lebanese Resistance helped the Palestinians in every possible way while the Arab countries failed to do so.

On another note, he extended his condolences to Iran for the death of General Hassan Shateri who was killed in Syria on his way to Lebanon.

On Lebanese affairs

Nasrallah stressed the Lebanese cabinet’s support for the Resistance. “We may have some differences with PM Mikati but we always end up reaching a consensus,” he said, stressing the cabinet would never "stab the Resistance in the back."

He said that Hezbollah and the Future Movement do not treat their allies in the same way. "Is it shameful for us to support our allies?"

"Aoun supported the Resistance during the 2006 war without expecting anything in return and despite the national, regional and international bets on the failure of Hezbollah," he said.

Nasrallah pointed out that Hezbollah is convinced of the Orthodox Gathering’s draft law, stressing that his party’s priority lies in the support of the formula stipulating Lebanon as one electoral district based on proportional representation. “Christians consider that the Orthodox Gathering’s proposal is an opportunity to achieve real equality,” he said.

He said that since 2008, Aoun has taken a clear stance on the Resistance and its weapons, considering that "he who cares about forming a civil state does not promote incitement."

Nasrallah considered that everything that leads to the importation of the Syrian crisis into Lebanon is wrong and does not serve Lebanon’s interest.

On another note, he revealed that PM Saad Hariri offered to set the issue of weapons aside in exchange for Hezbollah's approval of him as prime minister, stressing that late PM Rafik Hariri supported the Resistance.

In turn, former PM Saad Hariri said via twitter that "the protector of the suspects accused of killing martyr Rafik Hariri doesn't have the right to speak of the latter's history."
