LAF Chief of Staff position to face suspension with cabinet formation delay

One of the repercussions of the cabinet’s failure to convene will be revealed on Monday, October 15^th, when the mandate of Lebanese Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hatem Mallak expires.

With no cabinet yet formed, it will be impossible to appoint a successor to Mallak, since this appointment requires a decree to be issued by the cabinet. Therefore, the position will become vacant as of Monday October 15, at midnight.
