Foreign Ministers of Lebanon, Greece and Cyprus meet
Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil announced on Wednesday the launch of the tripartite route between Lebanon, Cyprus and Greece after meeting with his Greek and Cypriot counterparts Nikos Christodoulides and Georgios Katrougalos.
 
This as Bassil stressed that Lebanon and its neighbors should not remain without a political and economic coordination.
 
"On top of the political agenda was the return of Syrian refugees,” he noted.
 
Bassil also stressed that Lebanon must not bear the repercussions of the solution, adding that the International community must shoulder its responsibilities in this regard.
 
“We heard a very advanced position from Cyprus and Greece concerning the displaced persons," Bassil went on saying.
 
He also revealed that May 7 is the set deadline to finalize agreements between the three countries in the fields of tourism, trade exchange, investment and cultural cooperation.
 
“A trilateral summit will be then held in Cyprus between the three presidents to sign the said agreements," he added.
 
On another note, he reiterated Lebanon’s commitment to resolution 1701 and the rejection of the US decision regarding the Golan Heights.
 
For his part, the Cypriot Foreign Minister said that discussions tackled the problems in the region, adding that they full cooperation in what Lebanon needs."
 
"Our first objective is to reinforce the means of communication and dialogue in the Mediterranean region," the Greek FM noted.
