Speaker Nabih Berri discussed on Monday in Ain el Tineh with Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Hamadoun Touré and caretaker Telecom Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui resolutions the ITU has already taken in Lebanon’s interest.
These resolutions had included condemning Israel from 1973 until 2010 and the fact that the ITU had decided that Israel was to pay Lebanon a compensation of $547 million but never did.
“The compensation issue is related to the continuous Israeli discord with the international legitimacy,” Touré said.
This as Berri called for the formation of an investigation committee regarding the new Israeli aggression which is in the form of spying on the Lebanese, the embassies and the international agencies in Lebanon.
In this context, Secretary General of the ITU acknowledged his support to Lebanon’s rights, vowing to follow up on the issue closely and taking appropriate decisions in this regards.
