Fneideq municipality says dissident army soldier suffers from psychiatric disorder
The Fneideq municipality said on Sunday that Lebanese soldier Abdul Qader Akkoumi is suffering from a psychiatric disorder, noting that he deserted the military institution nearly three months ago.

Lebanese Armed Forces soldier Akkoumi announced his defection to the Islamic State jihadist group, according to a video circulated on Saturday (October 11).

In a statement, the Fneideq municipality said it fully supports the army and the security forces, calling on the Lebanese media to seek accuracy.

The municipality also asked the cabinet to take serious steps aiming to expedite the release of the kidnapped troops as well as the trial of detainees.

In this regard, the municipality asked the government to take a bold decision calling on all Lebanese parties, mainly the Shi'ite movement Hezbollah, to withdraw their fighters from Syria.
