Education Minister Elias Bou Saab said that the circumstances witnessed by Lebanon “are not normal, since we cannot disassociate it from the events taking place in Syria and Iraq,” noting that the people have to start thinking as “Lebanese citizens.”
In statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Bou Saab said that the town of Arsal is occupied and must be liberated; pointing out that the remarks of MP Khaled al-Daher may lead to an internal strife, while MP Walid Jumblatt is seeking to unite the Lebanese people against all dangers.
In this context, the minister said that the plan to attack the Lebanese army has been the same since the incidents of al-Donniyeh, stressing that the party behind these plots is well known.
On another note, he stated that extremism is not related to religion, adding that most Arab countries have refused this situation dominated by terrorism and extremism.
Concerning the Iranian grant, Bou Saab explained that he supports the armament of the Lebanese army without any conditions or restrictions, noting that the cabinet is waiting Defense Minister Samir Moqbel to return from Iran to discuss the Iranian grant and take the appropriate related decision.
On the issue of the pay scale, the minister said that the file has not been approach with enough seriousness, noting that nothing has been practically achieved during the meetings of the parliamentary committees.
