Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Sunday that Hezbollah "is the only one at this point that is halting the rise of the country," noting that there is no enmity with the party but only political rivalry.
Geagea’s comments were made in an interview on Youtube whereby he noted that the only factor hindering the rise of the state is "Hezbollah’s presence as a state within a state."
He also accused Iran of thwarting the election of a new president for the country.
Lebanese lawmakers failed for the 20th time last week to elect a new president over lack of quorum.
President Michel Sleiman's mandate ended in May without the election of a successor.
Hezbollah and Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun's Change and Reform bloc have been boycotting the electoral sessions due to disputes with the March 14 camp over a consensual presidential candidate.
