Mikati: Al Zoabi’s rhetoric on arms smuggling via Lebanon is unfortunate
In an interview with REUTERS Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that Lebanon is among the countries susceptible to a spillover of the Syrian crisis due to political, security and geographical reasons, although he remains reassured through the policy of self-dissociation applied by the Lebanese.

“Should the crisis reach Lebanon, then no one remains safe from its repercussions” he stressed.

Commenting on the Syrian Minister of Information Omran Zoabi’s statement, Mikati described them as unfortunate.

Zoabi had said that the smuggling of Saudi, Qatari and Turkish arms into Syria via Lebanon will bring forth serious repercussions against the country.

On the wave of kidnappings recently occurring in the country, Mikati said: “we are always following up on the issue. Kidnapping operations take place as a result of action and reaction and it is with perseverance that a solution can be found leading to the release of all hostages”.

“Lebanon’s security is stable for the time being, and involved apparatuses are taking care of the situation” the Premiere added in his final statements.
