REPORT: Relatives of Lebanese abductees in Aazaz suspend their movements

The relatives of the Lebanese abductees in Syria’s Aazaz held a sit-in outside the Turkish Airlines office in downtown Beirut on Wednesday morning, calling for the release of their loved ones.        

They sealed the locks of the offices whose employees had failed to show up in since this morning.

Sheikh Abbas Zgheib tasked by the Higher Islamic Shiite Council to follow up on the case, stressed that today’s sit-in is “a peaceful movement against Turkish institutions in Lebanon” to push for the release of the abductees.

In turn, Adham Zgheib, the son of one of the abductees told LBCI that they will continue to exert peaceful pressure on the Turkish institutions in Lebanon, considering that Turks are not making any effort to release the abductees.     

Zgheib said that the abductees’ relatives have put a list of Turkish institutions outside which they will hold peaceful sit-ins, adding “we will not do anything that would harm the Lebanese state’s interests.”

In a statement, Zgheib stressed that today’s movement was only a beginning and will be followed by many others including a campaign to boycott Turkish merchandise in Lebanon.
