Banks Association head: Need for cooperation to address banking crisis

Lebanon’s Association of Banks head Salim Sfeir expressed support for President Joseph Aoun during what he described as a critical phase, praising his “national stances aimed at restoring sovereignty, preserving national dignity, and maintaining stability and security.”

Following his meeting with the president, Sfeir said: “We emphasized our support for the national decisions taken by the president and the government, which restore the authority of the state, strengthen its enforcement, and reinforce respect for laws and their implementation.”

He noted that Aoun was briefed on the serious challenges facing the banking sector.

Sfeir also stressed the need for cooperation between relevant ministries, the governorate of the central bank, and the Association of Banks to address the financial crisis and restore the normal functioning of the banking and financial system.
