REPORT: Delegation of the protesters’ lawyer says will sue all those who attacked demonstrators

The delegation of lawyers entrusted to defend the downtown Beirut protesters discussed on Thursday with Judge Riyad Hammoud the arbitrary arrests of protesters and the attacks carried out against them.

“The arrestees were apprehended for expressing their point of views,” they asserted.

The delegation also noted that they will file lawsuits over all the attacks and assaults practiced against the protesters, adding that the arrested demonstrators were not proven to be under the influence of illegal substances.

Clashes renewed on Tuesday between protesters and security forces at the Riad al-Soleh square after some demonstrators tried to throw water bottles at the police.

Security apparatuses had brought in more reinforcements, while organizers of the protests tried to calm the situation.
