Shortages and inadequate shelters in Israeli towns: A looming crisis

Israel has not yet succeeded in completing its readiness to protect the internal front from various types of long-range and precision missiles, and the majority of towns from the far north to the far south are not secure.

There is a shortage of shelters, and the available ones are unsafe and unsuitable for long-term stays.

In an unprecedented move, the State Comptroller conducted a tour of various towns to discover the dire situation of these shelters.

Haifa, the city that has become a target for guided missiles from Gaza and Hezbollah's missiles from the north, is considered one of the most prominent strategic targets, and its readiness has not yet been completed.

Furthermore, there is a significant shortage of shelters and hospitals suffering from a shortage of beds.

While some hospitals have converted parking lots into shelters, others have completed preparations and started training, as is happening at Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

As for the towns closest to the northern border, their residents have been relocated to areas far from the missile threat, including the Arab Al-Aramsha residents who were moved to Nazareth and distributed to hotels without a specified timeline for their return.

The greatest danger to Israel lies in its ability to protect itself from missiles.

However, Hamas disabled the Iron Dome system on October 7th, and Tel Aviv is waiting for the arrival of two missile defense systems from the Pentagon.

It is also trying to recover some of the systems it sold to several countries as part of arms deals made last year.

Israel, which is grappling with chaos on multiple levels, has reached its peak with the loss of media coordination.

What the elderly released prisoner from Gaza announced about the favorable treatment by Hamas after she was taken into the Gaza Strip struck at the heart of the Israeli military media. This announcement also ignited a dispute between Netanyahu's office and the prisoner's family, as well as the hospital that allowed the press conference to be held.
