The death toll from a collision between two high-speed trains in southern Spain has risen to 40, the head of the regional government of Andalucia, Juan Manuel Moreno, said Monday.

"There are currently 40 confirmed deaths," he told a news conference, adding it will take 24-48 hours “to know with certainty how many deaths have resulted from this terrible accident."
