Egyptian culture minister resigns over Tahrir clashes

Egyptian Minister of Culture Emad Abu Ghazi announced his resignation on Monday over the government dealing with the recent clashes between security forces and protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square.

The Cairo clashes erupted one week before what was set to be the nation’s first democratic elections in the post-Mubarak era.

Protesters are calling on the ruling military council to hand over power to an elected civil authority.
