The end of Turkish-Israeli police cooperation
The Israeli Ministry of Public Security spokesman, Tal Volovich, said on Monday that, “The Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch ordered the transfer of the Israeli Police Representative from Ankara to Bucharest ".

“There is no longer police cooperation between the two countries.”,  the minister said in a press release on Monday.

Israel and Turkey have been in diplomatic crisis since the Mavy Marmara since May 2010 when Israeli naval commandos attacked a convoy of six ships trying to reach the Gaza Strip in defiance of an Israeli naval blockade, killing nine Turkish peace activists and several others.

Ankara has demanded an apology but although Israel expressed regret over the loss of life, it said its men acted in self-defense and that the blockade of the Hamas forces in Gaza Strip is both necessary and legal.

Earlier this month, Turkey expelled the Israeli ambassador and froze military ties and defense trade.

Relations between Israel and Turkey became more tensed when Prime Minister Erdogan threatened to send warships to escort any future Turkish vessels trying to reach Gaza.
