China’s president calls for stronger ties with the Arab world

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called for a stronger and more dynamic partnership between China and the Arab world amid what he described as unprecedented global changes.

According to media reports, Xi told Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is visiting Beijing, that greater coordination and cooperation are needed as the world faces choices between peace and war, as well as unity and confrontation.

The visit comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Gulf region, following the failure of talks earlier this week between Washington and Tehran to reach an agreement to end the weeks-long war in Iran.
