Clements urges government to ensure the safety of Syrian displaced
Deputy Assistant Secretary Kelly Clements of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration visited urged the Lebanese government on Thursday to continue working closely with the international community to address the humanitarian needs and ensure the safety of the Syrian displaced in Lebanon. Clements is on a visit to Lebanon to follow up on the situation of Palestinian and Iraqi refugees as well as the Syrian displaced in Lebanon.      

According to the U.S. Embassy’s statement, Clements stressed her country’s commitment to offer humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people and to those who fled the violence in neighboring countries. Clements added that during the current financial year, the U.S. allocated 52 million dollars in emergency aid for refugees.
