Families and relatives of the Islamist detainees staged Sunday a sit-in outside Roumeih prison, asking for general amnesty for their sons.
The protesters also blocked the road in both directions, banning vehicles from passing, leading to a clash between the security forces and the protesters on one hand, and between the protesters and the region’s residents on the other hand.
Sheikh Salem al-Rafei demanded, on behalf of the protesters, the formation of a committee from the relatives that will be allowed access to the prison so they can be informed of the inmates’ conditions.
