In his first comments on the conference held by the owners of private generators, during which they called for cutting off power as a warning, caretaker Economy Minister Raed Khoury expressed surprise that an illegal group would say in a conference that they will not abide by the law, stressing that the public prosecution will take the necessary measures in this regard.
Speaking to LBCI, the minister said that the ministry will not take back the decision pertaining to the installation of meters for the generators across Lebanon, noting that the only available solution in this issue is abiding by the laws.
Addressing the generator owners, he said that “the ministry does not want them to lose but they must forget to huge gains previously made,” adding that the judiciary and public prosecutions will be ready to assist the security forces in the implementation of the ministry’s decision.
Khoury advised the generator owners not to resort to any escalation, “because it will only lead to a dispute that no one needs.”
