Al-Makassed hospital denies to LBCI decision to stop receiving patients, expect for emergency department
Al-Makassed hospital denied on Monday to LBCI news circulated on social media platforms about its decision to stop receiving patients.

The hospital asserted during a phone call with LBCI’s website that it is still receiving patients in the hospital and in the medical center "despite the difficult economic situation."

Later in the day, the hospital issued a statement in which it said that “with great regret and under exceptional pressing conditions, the hospital is compelled to stop its work in the emergency department and will not receive any cases, except for the critical ones that require urgent treatment and hospital administration.”

The hospital cited the high prices of medical supplies that are difficult to obtain, in addition to the Ministry of Finance’s failure in paying its dues and the shortage of foreign and local aid that the hospital used to receive behind such a decision.

This as the statement added that work in the hospital’s departments is “proceeding as normal and planned, except for the emergency department which was temporarily and exceptionally suspended for the aforementioned reasons.”
