Caretaker Minister of Health Hamad Hassan said on Friday that 17 hospitals are now receiving Coronavirus patients, adding that World Health Organization is assisting Lebanon in confronting the through coverage with “nursing and providing respirators.”
 
“We are able to hospitalize 1000 COVID-19 patients," Hassan said during a press conference held to follow up on the pandemic in Lebanon’s prisons.
 
The minister noted that all prisoners who contracted the virus were isolated in the Roumieh prison and were dealt with correctly.
 
“The model that was applied in Roumieh to counter the coronavirus pandemic is being applied in a number of places," Hassan stressed.
 
On another note, the minister said that work is being done in cooperation with the WHO to increase coronavirus departments that are capable of receiving inmates.
 
Hassan concluded by calling on university academic institutions “to partner with government hospitals to contribute in the fight against Coronavirus."
